Garmin is adding Amazon Music to its collection of music streaming services you can transfer songs from over to your watch and leave that phone behind.

If you're a subscriber to Amazon Music (that requires an Amazon Prime membership), you'll now be able to download the dedicated app from Garmin's Connect IQ store and sync over tracks and playlists from the store.

That support will of course only be compatible with Garmin watches that have a built-in music player. So we're talking the Forerunner 245 Music, Forerunner 645 Music, Forerunner 945, Fenix 5 Plus series, Vivoactive 3 Music and Marq watches.

Amazon Music joins Spotify, Deezer and iHeartRadio as streaming services that those watches above all work with. This will actually be the first wearable maker to offer this kind of support for Amazon's music streaming service. There's 50 million songs on the service, so it's does at least give you more motivating music to choose from if you do have access to it. If you don't, you can give it a 30-day free trial to see if you want in.

Hopefully that extended music support will also crop up on a host of new Garmin watches that are rumored to be on the horizon. Details and images of the what is believed to be the Vivoactive 4 suggest a successor to the Vivoactive 3 is on the way. There's also details of a new Garmin Venu watch that could be a more premium version of the Vivoactive and new Vivomove hybrid smartwatches.

For those Garmin watches that do exist right now and have music features, you can download the Amazon Music Connect IQ app now and start getting your audio fix.
